Clay proably should apologize to Kelly. I’m sure he meant no ill will and if it offended Kelly to that extreme I’m sure he would have never put his hand over her mouth. However, the comment Kelly made about not knowing where his hand had been was every bit as much out of line as his putting his hand on her mouth to shut her up. I find Kelly very annoying and the only reason I ever watch that show anymore is to see the guest. During Kelly’s parody of Clay singing Invisible she made it clear to me she was making fun his sexual preference. If you have that segment TVoed pause at the end when supposedly fans are cheering her peformance, there are two 1.) a lady with a sign I Love Clay 2.) a half dressed man holding a sign saying “Claymate”. Really how off base was Rosie O’Donnell about Kelly being a little homophobic

Clay had no right to put his hand over Kelly mouth, and there was nothing wrong with Kelly’s comment. He was shaking everybody’s hand and then put his hand over her mouth, and Rosie’s comment was out of line. I can’t see how she would say Kelly is homophobic. I for one don’t like when somebody puts there hand in my face let alone to cover my mouth. I don’t believe Clay ever came out the closet so maybe Rosie should of thought twice before she made that comment.

Clay was out of line. I think that Kelly had all right to let him know that he had cross the line. I really don’t see where she was rude to him at all, in fact I think she played off very nicely. She could have snapped at him but she didn’t. Frankly, I don’t know how this has become a homophobic issue. Hetro or homosexual, she didn’t know where his hand had been. He owes her an apology. Mark has been on the show many times and I have never seen him cross the line that Clay crossed.

I was surprised Clay covered Kelly’s mouth, that is until our local news just showed two occasions that Kelly covered Regis mouth. Wow, isn’t it funny how it is ok for her to do it, not once, but twice, but when done to her it is not ok. Double standards perhaps?

Until our local news showed those two clips of Regis & Kelly I was mad at Clay, but now, it looks to me that the first person Kelly should mock is looking back at her in her own mirror.

I think Kelly is a spoiled brat! She comes off as a know-it-all in her cutesy voice. She is annoying every time she opens her mouth. She doesn’t think before she says things so deserves a hand over her mouth once in a while. Clay should have thought twice before being paired with her as a guest host. He should know she’s a loose canon!
I’m still Caly’s No.1 fan!!

Clay should be ashamed. He was rude to Kelly the entire show. He talks so much about his mom but, it really looked bad on her that she raised a son that is so rude to someone. From the time they walked out until he did put his hand over her mouth he didn’t have a kind word for her. Especially since she didn’t say one single rude thing to him no matter what he said to or about her. If he had such horrible feelings about Kelly he should never have agreed to host the show.

This made such controversal tv. Above emails are so correct. Clay is immature and does not have the experience of a co-host. She should have controled the situation from the beginning. Kelly is use to being spontaneous funny and Clay was acting as if he was at a high school party with his goofy jokes. I enjoyed the show. Kelly reacted and should have told her producers that she was not comfortable with Clay as a co host and end it there. But I enjoyed the rant.

I think Kelly was the one behaving badly, she should have played it off and been funny. She’s the one who made the incident uncomfortable. She was hogging the interview and he was trying to be funny, she was the one who was clearly out of line and looked like a brat.

Well well….
This sure is the month for hurt feelings. Really now…Kelly is really such a show hog and she’s always hitting, punching, and evern putting her hand over Regis’ mouth.
What’s a guy gotta do to shut her up? Well…put his hand over her mouth.
But….I don’t see how her comment about not knowing where his hand has been has anything to do with his sexuality. One could say that about anyone.

I agree with all the above supporting Kelly~ especially with Daniell and Terry! This is not a homophobic issue! And I think through all of this… Rosie was the one out of line. When did it become her issue! I saw the show~ Laughed a bit with Clay’s “digs” on Kelly, but got annoyed with the way they were never ending! One was funny and enough!! I lost a lot of respect for Clay that day… BEFORE the mouth thing! Who does he think he is…. When Regis is gone.. Kelly is in charge!!! So… get over yourself, and go back to the quiet person you were before HOLLYWOOD got to your head!

One never knows where Kelly’s mouth has been.

This entire thing is so crazy. Keep your hands to yourself. Kelly may be obnoxious at times, but that doesn’t give anyone the right to touch her mouth with their hand. Be real. You don’t know where there hand has been. How many people walk out of the bathroom in a restaurant and head back to the buffet and touches everything you touched and they never washed their hands after going to the bathroom….think about it. You don’t know where Clay’s hand has been….gay or not.

Kelly is the star of the show. She is also a good friend to Regis, and comparing what she and Regis do, to what Clay and she did is silly. She has worked like an animal for her position, and deserves every bit of the respect that she expects. Clay was acting as if he was the star of the show, he had been rude throught the show. He put his hand over her mouth after already having acted like a spoiled, idiot. The hand over the mouth was the last straw. When and where Kelly washes, and uses antibacterial handwash, is more then likely known by Regis. Making her hand a known, and safe risk. Clay is an unknown person, and she had every right to expect the respect of someone that she DID NOT KNOW… a certian amount of distance is expected, and should have been respected. a punch on the arm, or a hug is FAR differant from a man that was already being hostel, putting his hand over her mouth… it was rude… Her parody of him singing is her job… being funny… SNL.. all the shows do it.. it is a joke, and NOTHING hateful has ever been done by this woman… this whole topic is foolish..

Rosie O, is just an annoying obnoxious FOOL.. Some of my dearest friends are Gay, and they agree. Her personal attacks are doing nothing for the Gay community. She is just nasty, and hatefull.

I just watched the clip and it seemed to me that Clay was just trying to say “Hey, can I ask a question here?” It is rather natural to put you hand to someones mouth to shut them up so you can get a word in. I think Kelly was just stunned to have someone do that to her. I think everyone is making way too big a deal of this. It is obvious they don’t get a long. Who cares if Clay is gay or not. Fact is, Clay wanted to ask a question - Kelly was hogging the interview, he made a move to let her know he wanted to ask a question, she completely ignored him, so he put the hand up to make a point. They should both apologize and move on with life.

Kelly Rippa unfortunately is not the host she was when she started. Although she pretends to be one of us regular people, she’s not. At least with Kathy Lee, what you see is what you got. Kelly Rippa has gotten to be to airy just because viewers thought of her to be just this regular next door neighbor; she’s too fake.

Comment by Amy on 12/17/2006 @ 8:54 pm

I think Kelly was in the right..you don’t know where Clay’s hand had been, and i would of been cautious also. And Rosie odonnel..well..She’s too gay to function..I mean, come on..Clay has not stated that he indeed is Gay, so why would she butt into THEIR business and snort off some crap about kelly making a homophob slur???

Comment by Sandy on 12/19/2006 @ 12:07 pm

Where was everybody when Kelly put her hand over Regis’s mouth she looked down real fast when she saw Regis didn’t like it but he did not embarass her..She could have been quiet as well and let Clay get a word in..Yes she has kids and worries about germs, but Regis has had heath problems..Homofob i don’t know but the apology should go to Clay..Good site
